Expectations

Kindergarten: 

First semester, students will learn letter names, letter sounds and sight words. It is helpful to practice these at home to build fluency. Second semester, students will work on segmenting words (hearing the sounds in words), building and blending CVC words and learning sight words.

First Grade:

Students will learn reading strategies to become independent readers. Each night students will bring home a reading bag. An adult should listen to the student read and retell the story. The reading bag should be returned to school daily.
